Okay we don't have a character or a setting so here are some non ghost dumb future people

  1. Was thinking about the game mechanic and just wanted to throw this idea out there: How about making the protagonist a cyborg? This could potentially work as a levelling up system so, for example, eye-upgrades could provide infrared or x-ray vision, hand-upgrades could provide artificial muscle memory (programmed to operate space ships), narrowing (to fit in small gaps) or strengthened grip. Leg-upgrades could enable him/her to super-jump to access previously unreachable parts of the environment, or s/he could equip super-friction limbs to walk up vertical surface. We could also create puzzles based around cyborg parts getting removed (in the event that the protagonist gets mugged, imprisoned, or hit by a boat), or s/he could use them as part of a trading system to progress the story.

    What do you guys think?

By the way, I think dumb shoes are awesome. I like the idea of throwing in some ridiculous cultural weirdness that in-game characters see as normal.

  2. Nice ideas! Usually, a point and click would have the protagonist find objects that are added to an inventory - finding upgrades that unlock abilites would be a cool twist. Very Deus Ex, though!

Ha, yeah, I'd love it if we could make a unique world but everyone in it is totally cool with it.
