How about this for a plot idea?
Z is a standard model android, political activist for the Android Rights Movement and police detective. He investigates the series of brutal "android harvesting" crimes, and strives to identify and bring down the organisation responsible.
He's an android with PASSION and I like that.
ReplyDeleteI put forward the idea of a human sidekick (we could play on all the point and clicks that have a sassy robot sidekick? I SUPER need to remember that other game that has the sassy robot sidekick, because I remember that the robot borderline hates the main character -a complete TOOL- but he's tied to him, and I think at one point infers that he watches him sleep at night? you would LOVE IT) but I donno, Danny mentioned something about cyborgs? it makes sense, but I like the cleaner divide between androids/humans that not having cyborgs has
ReplyDeleteT'was just an idea, could also have humans with the occasional cyborg modification (since it's a world in which technology clearly is good enough to do that) but ultimately they still consider themselves human. Then in terms of class divide, maybe "natural formed human brain" vs "humanoid AI"?
Deleteyeah!! i wasn't nixing it, i just needed convincing. I LIKE THE IDEA OF GETTING TO A POINT WHERE EVEN YOU DON'T KNOW IF YOU ARE HUMAN OR A ROBOT, PHILIP K. DICK STYLE. Cyborgs would totally hit all those buttons
DeleteCybernetics could be the reason for the "android harvesting" crimes. Some humans don't see anything wrong with taking parts from an android to use on human upgrades, as a lot of stuff is cross compatible and "way too expensive" brand new. It's "better" to get it second hand from the black market. Humans are opportunistic by nature, and find a reason to justify their feelings of jealousy towards Androids. Why should humans get deprived of enhancements that improve employment opportunities and quality of life, whilst androids gets to walk around taking up jobs, housing, resources, electricity, all that?
Delete"They're societies parasites! We created them, are they even grateful? I think they forget who was around first. Who cares if they have the same brain capacity as a human these days, cows are smart, 10% of electricity is created because of cows and before lab meat became standard we'd kill them in the name of burgers, without a second thought. I think I've made my point, now get off my lawn." (says Mr McBiggot, the CEO of "Cheap Dodgy Android Parts Inc".)
Meanwhile Anonymous scientist from the Androids Rights Movement Headquarters pointed out that "An androids "brain" if you like, works almost EXACTLY the same as a human brain, the main difference is that they learn faster and have to forget stuff manually. [Loads of boring technical words.]"
This is going to break my heart; WHY DO HUMANS HAVE TO BE JERKS TO ROBOTS
DeleteAww yeah a human sidekick would be nice!
ReplyDeleteNoob cop human sidekick?
DeleteA rookie cop would be really nice. I like how meaty humans are, too. There are some puzzles in that (and scraped knees for the rookie).
DeleteRookie cop had to attend an android sensitivity course after rookie forcefed their first robot partner a burger ("try it! it is SO GOOD") and it went all A.I on them :(
DeleteThe android had to attend a human anatomy course after he almost drowned a partner pursuing some android suspects threw some sewers ("I HAVE LOCATED THEIR HIDEOUT, IT IS LOCATED 800 METRES DOWN THIS REFUSE PIPE, ALLOW ME TO ASSIST YOU")
DeleteSo it works out.
THIS IS A GOOD SET UP
DeleteSince this is a genre I enjoy super intensely it's hard for me to stop falling back on cliche (OR OUT RIGHT STEALING THINGS). I am just putting this out there for you guys to police me on- if you hear anything that's straight out of any buddy cop movie of any stripe, or out of Feet of Clay since we're going down the liberation route, for the love of ALL call me out on it
Hahaha! please can there be an animation about the burger incident in the game! :D
DeleteHere is my unique personal original concept for this partnership: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15699451/totally%20original%20concept.jpg
DeleteIt's beautiful.
DeleteSO THAT WE HAVE IT ON RECORD THE GAME I WAS TALKING ABOUT WAS KOJIMA'S 'SNATCHER' AND I'M NOT INSANE
ReplyDeleteI NEED to play Snatcher, god, you have BEGUN something in me.
